Bra Sister Sizes Explained

Sister sizes are groups of bra sizes that share the exact same cup volume, even though their band sizes and cup letters are different. Understanding your sister sizes is incredibly helpful when your usual size isn’t a perfect fit or isn’t available.

How Do Sister Sizes Work?

Bra sizes are relative: as a band size increases, the actual volume of the cup letter increases with it. The opposite is true when you decrease band sizes.

The Rule of Thumb If you go up one band size, you must go down one cup size to keep the same cup volume. If you go down one band size, you must go up one cup size.
Sister Size Example

The following sizes all share the exact same cup capacity:

32E ↔ 34D ↔ 36C ↔ 38B ↔ 40A
Fit Tip If your band feels too tight but the cups fit perfectly, go up one band, down one cup (e.g. 34D → 36C). If your band is too loose but the cups are perfect, go down one band, up one cup (e.g. 34D → 32E).

Fit FAQs

What do I need to measure myself? +
A soft measuring tape and a non-padded, non-push-up bra. Stand in front of a mirror to keep the tape level all the way around for the most accurate reading.
What’s the difference between underbust and overbust? +
Your underbust is measured snugly directly beneath your bust where the band of your bra sits — this sets your band size. Your overbust is measured around the fullest part of your bust — the difference between the two determines your cup.
How is my cup size calculated? +
We match your underbust to a band size, then compare it to your overbust. Each inch of difference moves you up one cup: A, B, C, D, DD/E, DDD/F, G, then H.
I’m between sizes — what should I do? +
If you fall between two sizes, we recommend trying both. Many people prefer the snugger band, and remember the “sister size” rule: going down a band usually means going up a cup.
I’m used to wearing international sizes, how do I know what size to wear? +
